One important exception to this (and looks really radical too) is don't bring the bike back at all. As long as you set the bike down in a nose wheelie you will find that the rear of the bike will unravel itself automatically behind the front wheel as it touches down. A really cool move, very easy to do and it will teach you that no matter how bad things get in mid-air that a front wheel landing will usually unravel that big mess behind you. Conversely, a rear wheel landing will give the delinquent bike by "its head" (and it will use its newfound authority to try and remove your head!). Front wheel landings can be life savers and practicing "unwound" whip landings on the front wheel can teach you how important this technique can be one day when there is nothing else between you and a big crash except for your front wheel landing skills.
